Dell XPS m200s 98 drivers

I'm looking for Windows 98 drivers for a Dell XPS m200s. Supposedly its motherboard is like an oem Intel TE430VX so those drivers could work too.

Hmm, Dell doesn't seem to list that machine anymore on their support website. Which is odd because they still support 286 machines that they built 30 years ago under a different name. But there is no listing for that machine.

They do list an XPS 200, which is clearly a different machine. Perhaps they made a mistake. Do you happen to still have the service tag sticker on it? It's usually on the back of Older Dell machines. Usually you can enter this on their support website and it will open you right up to the correct page. Sometimes if the sticker is gone you can get it from the BIOS.

What Driver are you looking for? The 430VX was kind of a problem plagued chipset.

Doing a little research, it appears that that machine came out in 1997. I'd be willing to bet that Windows 98 Second Edition probably supports most of its devices natively.

FWIW, I punched in a service tag for a XPSm200s and the drivers are available here http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/ServiceTag/9JMV9
At this screen enter your operating system and it will show available drivers.

It would be a better idea to use your own service tag if available.
There are a variety of different components that were available so you should know exactly what you need to get the right driver.

My service tag is BJQY2, but I get the same list you did. On a fresh Windows 98 install Device Manager shows an error on the ide controller. The error description doesn't mention a conflict, just that something is wrong somewhere... I guess if I don't figure it out it can just be a DOS machine.

You know that the machine has a 430VX chipset. Have you tried installing a generic chipset driver and then reinstalling the IDE controller driver if necessary?

Here is a link to the Latest Intel Windows 98 chipset drivers for the 4xx family. It should work fine with your Dell.

I tried this driver first. I originally only had a problem with the primary channel and installing this messed up both channels. There might be something else going on I haven't noticed. Everything works fine in DOS 6. I just figured if someone had their files handy I could try to take it close to factory and see. It's not that important anymore. After the issues I moved a lot of the Dell's guts to a Tekram MMX build I had on the side. I was just trying to take the Dell back to a "happy" state. I swapped out the Tekram's grey floppy drive so its tower was all white parts and put the grey floppy in the Dell out of mismatching spite. Unfortunately the grey drive matches the Dell logo perfectly and makes the tower look more badass. Curse you Dell!
