Someone needs to grab this one. It looks like it is in nice condition, although I don't know enough about this model to know if it is complete.

DEC PDP-11/35 COMPUTER / CABINET / POWER SUPPLIES (AS IS / FOR PARTS)
Mahwah, New Jersey, United States, ending on 11/23

Starting at $350.00 Any guess as to how high this one will go?

Glen,

Yeah, I saw this .. And my birthday is in a couple of days...

But my wife pays the bills and... "dead men can't run UNIX"

But you're maybe only 200 miles or so away to go pick it up :)

Luckily I'm safely all the way across the country.

Me too. I bet this goes for quite a bit more than the current bid. Only 2 so far.

Better act soon, you know what they say.... Here today, gone to Mahwah! Ok, bad New Jersey joke. This is really close to me, but I am in the same predicament as Crawford. Not to mention, I need to finish that Forth clock....

Hi All;

Lou, maybe You should see if there is some way for You to get it and have Fifth Clock, just a little bit bigger than your Forth Clock..

THANK YOU Marty

I wonder if they were holding on to it for a while so they could finish the auction date on 11/23?!

Dave

It’s not that far away and I may try poking it to at least $600 or so but the problem is the last couple times I played that game ended up getting the item! I already have a 11/23 and 11/34 but there is something to be said for having a system with switches and lights on the front although to tell the truth think a 11/05 or 10 would be easier to work with. Been spending the last couple months working on my Roam/Loral military Nova and although that has lots of switches it does not have as many lights, a huge heavy 11/35 may be just the thing.

I have a thread going over in the “Minis and Mainframe” section that describes what’s been going on with the Rolm/Nova system. It has been a big project so far. Lots of trials and the like but now at a stage where I have the system up and running and am in the process of building up the interconnect cable. Have the connector but now waiting for the rest of the connector shell parts to turn up. Have the stuff to go forward with paper tape so that’s coming soon and will get a chance to play around with some of the Nova paper tape I have been able to come up with.

There, I cranked it up to $610 but have a feeling it will go for more. The last couple minutes are always the real test.

Never hurts to print out a screen shot of the Auction and pace it on her pillow. hint hint

And the final answer is $9,766

I thought it might go high but wouldn't have guessed that high. There were at least 3 bidders who really wanted it. The 3rd highest bid was $8,500.

Too bad I wasn't the seller :)

Wow, $9,766.00 I was going to set an auto bid of $799.00 but in the last three or four minutes saw it go up to $980.00 and sit there. Then in the last thirty seconds saw what I thought was a mistake at over seven and then eight thousand dollars. Imagine this makes my unibus system worth more? Also looks to me like I won’t own a “Blinke Light” system any time soon.

Pretty much applies to Digital Equipment Corp. stuff of any persuasion as well. Like they say, someday these will be the "good old days".

But if you're serious, keep your eyes open for a cheap(er) fixer upper that the collectors are ignoring (for now).

I would have never guessed it would sell for that much. I figured in the $2000+ range.

Yeah, except this *was* a fixer upper :)
Well, not exactly. The front panel and switches looked to be in good shape, as well as the power supplies. The configuration was excellent (memory management, stack-limit, clock, EIS, and 64kword core) -- it was only missing the FIS. And it included a genuine DEC cabinet with one side panel (but not both; one suspects that there's another DEC cabinet-with-content coming up for auction, soon, with just one side-panel ...). I'm not condoning the sale price, but at least someone is now motivated to take care of it -- at least physically. Whether they will restore it to a complete, operational, configuration is TBD ...
