I've tried, but I can't seem to find a list of the file formats and permitted parameters for each file format for attachments to forum messages.
I'm asking this because I've just tried to attach a .WAV file (ZX81 program file audio) to a post and the entry for the selected file was EXed out as invalid, although it wasn't clear whether the file was invalid because it was a WAV file or because it was too big.
I could have made it smaller (and not a WAV file) by converting it to MP3, but I don't even know if MP3 is permitted and in any case I was trying to avoid the potential distortion inherent in any conversion to a lossy format.
Where's the definitive list of allowed files, allowed resolutions (for image files, etc) and so on?
The FAQ says that the 'attach file' dialogue gives this information at the 'attach files' stage but actually, it doesn't. I don't know if the attachment / upload GUI has been changed / simplified since the FAQ was written?
Edit: Ok, got it now. In the 'attach file' GUI there's an innoccuous looking blue question mark button. Clicking on that brings up the list of allowed file types. Looks like no sound files that I recognise, mainly image file formats and .zip to cover every other possibility. May I respectfully ask that .WAV, .MP3 and .MID be added to the list of permitted files? (With upper file size limits if deemed necessary).
