Hello all.
I have a Grid System 2202 external 2202 drive. It has a DB-50 connector interface. Does anyone know if this is this an old SCSI interface? Or, is it a parallel interface that can plug in to the parallel port on the Grid?
Thanks,
-Shawn

The external drives I have for most of the old grid stuff like the fifteen hundred series and Gridcase stuff I have is all twenty-five pin that just extended the drive controller to the remote drive. The connector is often on the side of the laptop. The connectors on the back are serial and parallel.

Don’t know about the sixteen hundred series but as far as I know you had to have the options pod for something like SCSI.
What laptop are you using it with?

I think the gridcase 3 had that connector, i have a few grid branded cables, i will look through my systems.

The Gridcase Plus could have that connector; it is listed as optional. 5.25" floppy drives, external hard drives, and the base station all were daisy chained with that 50 pin cable. It is not SCSI. The Gridcase Plus also had a 25 pin floppy port for the 3.5" drive. A manual would be very helpful in having the correct switch settings because those change depending on the options.

Sorry for the late reply. I should check the forum more often. I bought the 2202 *many* years ago (like 10 or 15) from eBay. I thought it was the "standard" 25 pin (with one pin covered up) interface and I could plug it in to my 1520's to have a 5 1/4 drive. It wasn't until a few weeks ago, I pulled things out of their storage boxes and look more closely.
I don't know... I only have the 2202 drive itself. No interface or anything. Looking at eBay, a seller has a 2200 for sale. To me, this indicates the 220X was part of a system and I may just have one piece of it. I'm not willing to dump a bunch of money chasing this system. I may put mine up on eBay.

The 2202 is an accessory for the original Gridcase and Gridcase Plus line of computers. It is part of the stackable external devices for the laptops which consists of:

2200 external battery charger and power supply
2201 10MB Hard Drive
2202 5.25 Inch Diskette Drive
2203 3.5 inch diskette drive
2230 ??MB Hard Disk
There were also some others but it's hard to find info on these.

These can be used stacked together, the connections twist 90° to stack them. Or they can be used separately.

I've been trying to find out more about these and what the bus they connect to looks like but I haven't been able to pick one up yet.
If possible, could you take some pictures of the PCB's on the inside? Thanks ;)
