At the age of sixteen, I feel younger than I really am as a good portion of the population here can remember the release of the IBM-PC or original Macintosh 128k. Some of which even are familiar with the Altair 8800!

I keep a fairly small collection of computers to preserve the history behind what others view as trash and a waste of space. I hold onto mid-late 1990s computers and even early 2000s as you see more of those being thrown away today. This has made me more familiar with classic and dead operating systems such as OS/2, MS-DOS/PC-DOS, System 1-6, Mac OS 7-9 and the Windows 9x line. I'm here to learn from those who have experienced much older times and to share my experiences. Someday when I find the time I will maybe post images of my collection, should anyone be interested.

Welcome. OS/2 is still still hanging in there in the form of eComstation ;) and there's still a niche for Dos. We're always interested in seeing what members have got and hearing their experiences.

Welcome to the forums, we're always happy to see folks preserving the interesting history of computers. Running many operating systems (and trouble shooting them) is a great way to beef up some experience. Certainly good to play with others like linux as well. That's how I started out early on too, just sorta accumulated stuff folks didn't want. Later it became more about collecting and playing on hardware I had always heard of but could never afford or never found, well or never heard of lol.

Welcome to the forums! I too wasn't around when DOS was the main OS (and before that, even), but I very much enjoy working with vintage computers from those times. You'll certainly learn much from the people here. You may end up with more computers than you came here with. Anyway, enjoy your time here and feel free to post pictures of your collection. It is intriguing to see the different types of vintage computers people have.

(And are you kidding, DOS AIN'T DEAD!) ;)
