IBM uses an frame around the floppy drive bezels for two half-height drive.

Does clone cases also came with this frame? And where can i get such a frame (it can be 3D printed if anyone can do this?)

How can i get one?

I actually just found one the other day on a computer I was parting out, and it did indeed have two half height drives.

Somebody knows where i can get such bezel frame> Of are those already unobtanium

I’m pretty sure they only came on XT 5160 that were built for 1986.

There were lots of 5150 and 5160 that were upgraded to half height drives and are running OK without the bezel though.

The 5162 also came with one

Without bezel you cant use the blank slot cover. Thats why i looking for one.

Are those slot fill brackets (thats needs to screw to an half-height drive easier to find?

I’ve got a couple of 1986 XT and one has only one floppy drive, so it’s got the lower metal box to blank that space. The bezel is not required to install it. The bezel is just a thin rectangular piece of trim to cover the gaps in the metal case.

Now the opposite might be true, you might need the correct blanking box or a floppy drive with the correct dimensions to install the bezel.

The IBM supplied HH floppy drive with the IBM embossed front stippled black bezel in my 5162 has that frame also, The front bezels on the IBM HH floppy drives are not as wide as other third party HH floppy drive bezels, One side of the frame is stippled just like the IBM Floppy drive bezels, The frame serves no purpose other than being purely cosmetic, It fills the top / Bottom / Side gaps so they look even between left and right drives.

I have half height drives or equivalents in both bays of my 5160. No such frame required.

But if you're trying to match a factory configuration you might want one.

Seems like something that could be easily 3D printed.

Someone who has one should post some measurements and/or photos.

I've found that the magnetic mat on my Ender 3 comes pretty close to creating a finish like whats on my 5160 & 5150.

Print the frame face down in black PLA and you're good to go.

That black thingy, yes. (dont know the size of yours having there) But normally it should fit 2 HH drives stick together.

That alu plate is for the inside. That black trim goes on the outside over the drive bezels.

Those were removed from a dead dual HH 5-1/2" drive IBM XT many years ago. I kept them just in case. if anyone wants them I will sell cheap Just PM Me if interested
