Experience the nostalgia of the vintage era with this IMSAI 8080 microcomputer, the first of the home computer clones and a supporting role standout in the movie War Games. (Can you hear the modem screech?) This fully functional microcomputer is a perfect addition to any computing collection. My father built it in 1975 and I would much rather see it be used in a happy geek/nerd home as opposed to a dust bunny Factory here where I have no clue how to work it

this was just on ebay, and listed as the dazzler badge on the front means nothing as there was no dazzler inside.

here is the ebay auction:

sold on sept 15 4 bids

smells like a scam post.

I dunno, I'm a trusting sort, but was it built in the two-week window?

It is a very nice example. Just a shame that only collectors can afford it!
As a retro computing enthusiast I would dearly, dearly love an IMSAI, but on my low income it will never, ever happen :)

This is not a scam. I am a real person and this is a real computer. I had to cancel the sale on ebay because they tried to hold payment until Oct 16th. I messaged the buyer multiple times to explain why the order was canceled and offerred him the opportunity to buy it via PayPal or another verified safe transaction system. I did not get a reply. I listed it here because i need to sell it. If you want to look me up and verify that im a Real Girl go ahead. Sorcha Costigan. Texas. This was my fathers computer. He died April 2016. I want it to be used and i have an urgent need for funds. So I listed it here. Any other questions please let me know

I am the seller and i am a real person. Im trying to reply to all your questions and comments. First: there is NO Dazzler. I didn't know this until a guy on ebay told me. Sorry for any confusion. I thought I copied all the text from my ebay post but apparently not. Im an ignoramus in terms of what boards are present or what this machine can do... I know it powers up and lights blink. No smoke. Hooray. I live in Texas about 45m east of Lufkin in the middle of nowhere. I cancelled the ebay order because ebay informed me after the sale that they were holding payment until 16 Oct. I need the money from the sale now, rather urgently. If you want to look me up go ahead. Sorcha Costigan in Texas. Any other questions? Ask below or message me.

Just post a picture of the thing with a piece of paper that has todays date on it, your username on this forum and the name of this thread written on it. That would prove you definitely have the device in your possession.

Also, don't take these comments personally. We've had to deal with more than our fair share of scammers on here, so the community is usually pretty skeptical of these sorts of things.

Everyone else, just a friendly reminder to keep this civil, it's ok to be skeptical and ask questions to help flush this out, but it's not ok to get personal or insulting.

sorry if my dates are a bit off. I have a Polaroid of me at about 3-4 years old sitting next to this machine and 1975 is written on the picture. I know he ordered and built it. I know it was early 70s. Apologies for any confusion. No deception was intended.

You look fine, besides it's the computer that's the star of the show here.

Ok people, we know this is a real person, who really has the machine. Not bullet proof against a scam, but in my opinion a solid start at trust and a reasonable show of sincerity. Reach out if you are interested, no need to comment if you are not (unless you can add relevant info).

That all said, as with any transaction here, VCFed is not responsible for anything, and you are advised to proceed at your own risk.

I too would love one of these and in fact have just had an award from work for long service but postage to the UK would put this out of my range :(

Id be willing to ship to the uk, whats your post code? I have family in Ireland and the UK. I will work with you on pricing and shipping if you'd like to make an offer.

Just my 2 cents. This line "I need the money from the sale now, rather urgently." was often used by scammers. I totally believe you are legit, but I'm just saying that there's been scammers and unfortunately, they force people to be more cautious. I recommend anyone buying this to pick up in person.
