Weird you should say that. I have my old Adaptec 2940UW laying around, and I had been researching this very thing last night. (Fortunately it has a narrow internal connector as well.) I think the coolest thing about BlueSCSI and ZuluSCSI is the fact that they can emulate an actual CD-ROM; do you happen to know how well that works in practice, for games? Obviously it won't do red book audio (though I did find this fantastic project, which is so wild and fascinating to me), but I'm not sure what else might be missing.
In the meantime, I actually managed to get the storage working with my CF adapter. It's 2GB, it required EZ-Drive, it was a PAIN, but it seems solid for now.
