Subject pretty much covers it. I'm looking for the manual or jumper settings for the Jameco JE-1043 floppy controller. The one I have has a newer ROM image than is available at minuszerodegrees.net/rom/rom.htm (mine is E6610 C2, site has E6610 C1). I can make this available if desired. This card is a rebadged Longshine LCS-6610F, but only one particular version of the 6610F. Longshine apparently produced several FDCs with the exact same model number, but with fairly different layouts, so the jumper settings for the JE-1043 aren't necessarily easily deduced from the 6610F documentation unless it happens to be for a closely-matching variant. TIA!

Please PM it to me and I will add it to minuszerodegrees.net/rom/rom.htm

I probably have the manual for this one--Jameco sent me some samples back then and I think they included the manual. I'll have a look, but be patient...

Have you contacted Jameco to see if they might have a PDF or other file archived? I had one of those many years ago that I bought from Jameco but it's long gone with the machine I sold it in.

Which reminds me (I keep reminding myself to do this). Before Jameco revamped their web site, sometime around 2010, I scoured what was left of their ftp (now long gone) site and grabbed everything I could find. About 157K files; the .rar archive is about 900MB in size. Some PDFs, but also gif scans of manuals.
Anyone interested in organizing and posting it?

I can host the information at minuszerodegrees. Things like GIFs of manual pages, I will assemble into PDF. Please PM me the RAR file.

modem7: will send the BIOS dump shortly

RussBlakeman: I contacted Jameco a couple weeks ago, but didn't hear anything back.

Chuck(G): Thanks for looking!

Well, a quick look through my pile of manuals doesn't turn up the book; I did turn up a ROM image, however. It's dated
9/26/1986. The card itself is made by Longshine. Is it perhaps the same as the LCS6812 described here. It's entirely possible that when I gave away the card, I included the manual.

Or maybe it's a LCS6610?

Btw, the board currently has these settings:

JP1: Open (located at bottom left of PCB)
JP2: Closed (mid board toward bottom)
JP3: Open (adjacent to JP2)
JP4: Closed (far right, below a bunch of other jumpers) (probably closed = ROM enable--need to verify)
JP5: 3 pins: : pins 2-3 are connected (far left of PCB) (this might be I/O Addr selection, but not confirmed yet)
4 jumpers labeled DIP SW 1, from left to right: Open, Open, Closed, Open (possibly ROM addr or drive type selection?)

It is in fact a rebranded LCS6610F, however Longshine apparently released several fairly dissimilar cards with the exact same part number. The ones I've found info for haven't been much help. I found one picture of an LCS6610F that had the same jumper layout as my card (other than mine having one extra jumper), but there was no info associated with the image. Here's a pic of mine (I've moved the jumpers since the post I made earlier).

Edit: oh yeah, that 2nd link is the pic I found of the LCS card that's close. I posted to that thread yesterday, but haven't heard anything.

I've been searching for my manual on the Jameco JE1043 Floppy Disk Controller.
Haven't located the card or the manual yet, but do have a photo copy of the manual.

Some older boards Rev D have the 4 Jumpers JP6/JP7/JP8/JP9 labeled as DIP SW1.
This matches your card. Jumper layout is the same for both versions.
Code:
JP1 - BIOS ADDRESS
OPEN = CC00h to CDFFh
CLOSED = CA00h to CBFFh

JP2, JP3 I/O Address

JP2 JP3
CLOSED OPEN 3F0h to 3F7h
OPEN CLOSED 370h to 377h
NEVER JUMPER BOTH JP2 & JP3 AT THE SAME TIME!

JP4 JE1043 BIOS Enable/Disable
JP4
 CLOSED Enable JE1043 BIOS
 OPEN Disable JE1043 BIOS

JP5 Delay
JP5 Pins 1 & 2 closed Disable Delay........BUS Speed lower than 10MHz
JP5 Pins 2 & 3 closed Enable Delay.........BUS Speed 10MHz to 12 MHz

JP6,7,8,9 Type of floppy drives.
 JP6 JP7 JP8 JP9 Drive A DRIVE B
 closed closed ----- ----- 360K -----
 open closed ----- ----- 720K -----
 closed open ----- ----- 1.2M -----
 open open ----- ----- 1.44M -----
 ----- ----- closed closed ----- 360K
 ----- ----- open closed ----- 720K
 ----- ----- closed open ----- 1.2M
 ----- ----- open open ----- 1.44M
I'll try to get it scanned in a few days.

Larry

Larry, this is awesome! Thanks so much! It's possible my version of the card doesn't support 1.44M drives, based on some previous experimentation, but I'll play with it tonight and verify everything.

I have the JE1049 Manual, which might have similar jumper settings. I have attached my scan of that manual. Please feel free to share and distribute.
