Hiya everybody! I picked up a Fujitsu Life book U810 at the VCF Swap Meet on the 28th (and for only $10!), and I need someone who could look at the unit and perform some repairs. When I got the machine, everything that I could test in the BIOS worked except for the hard drive. After I opened the unit up, cleaned it out, and replaced the hard drive, the touch screen and the speakers stopped working. I was able to get the touch screen working again today, but the audio is still non-functional. The computer doesn't even see an audio device on the board, and the speaker no longer beeps in the BIOS. In addition the keyboard "headlights" do not function when the respective hotkey is pressed.

Is there anybody who is familiar with these units and could either repair or replace the faulty parts on this unit? If not, I'd also be willing to buy a fully functional unit if anyone's selling one.

Welcome to the forum @LevelUp_ErikJ !

So, the likely issue is that the flat flex cables aren't being properly crimped into their connectors. Make sure that the cables are pressed all the way into the connectors before setting the latch.

Glad you found something cool at the swap.

I was thinking along those lines. I got the touchscreen to work after doing that with the display flex cables 2 or 3 times, but I had no luck with the audio on the I/O board. The thing that makes me think that it might not be the cables is that other devices that are attached to I/O board or other daughterboards, like the USB/Pointing Stick board/cables and the mouse buttons, work perfectly fine. As for the "headlights", one is attached to the pointing stick board on the right, and the other is attached to the mouse button/speaker board on the left. It just seems odd that multiple cables that lead to a few different functions allow some features to work but keep others from working properly,
