New Member | Attended Swap meet!

It's a shame that a lot of people forget exactly how we got to the technology we have today and take it for granted.
Yea exactly! And most people won't ever care. But it facinates me how everything works, so I want to slowly work my way down.
I'm a byproduct of the 90s myself so I'm not that far behind. What upgrades do you mean?
The RAM and the drive. I was used to 8gb minimum, now I'm dealing with MB/KB
Oh, so you're an aspiring programmer? I don't have the patience for that kind of stuff and it's great that there are people who do :p
Well I have been programming for a while. But not assembly lol. I mostly love building and working with things, programming was a cheap outlet that let me make awesome things.
I'd love to get a PS/2 like the one I used to mess around with but the recent popularity of them has put them way outside my price range, so I guess using one again will have to remain a pipe dream lol
If you have a chance to go to a swap meet or the events you should. I picked up the model 90 for $100 (which is decent in my opinion)
Go for it. I wish I could show off my collection in videos but I'm one of those camera shy people.
Ive always loved making videos, but I hated showing my face (Used to be insecure about acne). I want to start first with some writing/blogs then move on to video. I really want to try fully scripting and planning a video.

I've always been interested in what makes things tick, and computers were no exception. I just wish that I could actually stare at a screen long enough to learn a programming language and write some code without getting a headache. Working directly with hardware is more fun to me anyway now if only I had an oscilloscope

With RAM sizes that small, especially when you're trying to run DOS 6.22, every little bit helps. Made me kind of happy that I got a 5160 and not a 5150 as I had originally planned. As for the drive, it's really there just to back up the main drive considering how little space most DOS programs actually take up.

I've wanted to go for a while but never got around to it. I'm hoping I'll be able to attend the next one that's relatively close to NY.

Take it at your own pace, do whatever you feel comfortable with. Technically you don't have to show your face though, and it might just be me but I've noticed that usually the videos that don't have someone's face in it are more to the point.

Tbh the headaches are starting to come on pretty bad. But I found something that works for me, which is just thinking most of the time. Then programming on a 2011 thinkpad. I think I would 100% be more into hardware if I understood more of it. And yea, whats up with oscilloscopes being so expensive, I wanted to get one a while back, but didnt want to get a cheap one that would not give me options.

True, I completely agree there.

I'm starting to wonder if the headaches are actually more common than I thought.

Maybe because it's such an in demand tool in this day and age I'm assuming. It just sucks that something so crucial to advanced hardware diagnosis is so prohibitively expensive.

I wouldn't recommend broadcasting the previous owner's data on a public forum like this :p

Oops, didn't consider that. Thanks for the warning.

Very much so, maybe they are placibo, but it still happens to most people I know. Could also be related to neck strain? I know when my neck is in a bad position for a while it causes headaches. And usually if I am staring at a screen, my neck is not exactly perfect.
