Yikes, someone needs a reality check: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Dig...786?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27feb33c4a

$10,000 for a system that has not been powered on in 10yrs and is in unknown working condition? Just 4K of memory, nothing else?
Thinks that these systems when working go for $18,000? Maybe he is confused about the original purchase price in 1971?

Or this one, a steal at just $7,000: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEC-pdp8-e-...005&rk=2&rkt=6&mehot=pp&sd=171776883786&rt=nc

Full boatload of memory, but not guaranteed working either. Seems to be a reality distortion field on EBAY these days...

One thing you can take to the bank, they ain't making any more new ones. That kinda limits the "supply" side of the "supply/demand" teeter totter. Plus demand on eBay can be influenced by a kind of feeding frenzy near the end of any auction involving scarce items. And any PDP8 would certainly be considered as scarce. And its not limited to scarce items. I watched a guy "win" a used Klipch subwoofer by paying way above the price he would have paid for a brand new in the box with warranty unit at Best Buy. It doesn't make any sense but you see it every day if you watch for it.
