So, I recently moved, and while my PET 4032 booted fine when I brought it over, when I put in my office where it will live, nothing. No beep, nothing on screen, nothing. It is a parrot. Voltages look good on the board and from the PSU, and while I think it is the 6502, I have yet to find which box my spare chips are in to test for sure.

I did find my TFW8B/tynemouth MiniPET, and when I connect that into the case to the power supply, monitor and keyboard, everything boots fine, screen is still bright and clear. Huzzah, it is the logic board. When I find all my tools I will get to working on that, my Vicky-Twenty is still showing dark. And I do plan on buying a scope soon, one of the low cost options Adrian's Digital basement showed off, I can afford $150 for a scope.

But this got me wondering. My MiniPET is the old model, 40 column only, but is there anything in the monitor/video circuit in the PET that would limit it to 40 columns? If I did buy one of the new ones that can switch between 40 and 80 column, is there anything in that part of the case that would stop the monitor from showing either 40 or 80 column just in case I want to switch between the two modes?
