Plugging in power to other side..

Only you can answer that question...

Dave
I might just try jumpering for now - just to see if I can actually get this thing to work at all. I am about 2/3 of the way through the schematic just testing links that *should* be there, then I'm going to try your suggestion for testing the ones that shouldn't be.

I've been plugging away at this - replaced/resoldered six of the 'thru pins' as I call them that take traces from one side of the board to the other. Also found several bad sockets. I've gotten it to the point where it will sometimes initialize correctly (I think), running the firmware and getting to address 003 with some response from keys before locking up again. I've ordered a proper soldering station with smaller tips - hoping that will make the soldercon replacement process less gnarly.

I have been through the entire schematic and verified every connection. There are a few that seemed kind of sketchy based on where i placed the multimeter probe but after repairs seem to be okay. I've developed a list and have been checking for unwanted connections but not seeing anything thus far.

Also trying to find a replacement 6.750mHz crystal of the smaller size as I'd like to put the 'good' MMD-1 back together. I did have it connected to the larger crystal from the old MMD-1 but there's something weird going on where i have to touch or tap the thing a little before the machine will 'boot'. I've checked and redone the wire connections on both the crystal terminals and where they solder to the board (have to use wires as the crystal is too big), but yeah.. it's weird that it needs that.

So close!
