Hi all

I was at work the other day and had my regular look inside the room where computers go to die. To my amazement, near the

bottom of the pile, mostly buried, was an old computer, which turned out to be a working Aquired Digital Data Services

Regent 25 (not sure if it is a 25 or another). Anyway, after help from the YouTube community, I am finally getting the

parts needed to wire it up to the laptop and run an emulated bsd to get it working as a terminal. The problem I still face

is that I have absolutely no technical data / user manuals for the system. If anybody could help in this area, it would be

most appreciated.

I have created both a video on YouTube about the system and have a directory of pictures on Flickr showing it.

Any help appreciated,

Steve )

I will have to check to see if I have any manuals for that - I have one too. What information do you really need for it though? It's a nice terminal, but it's nothing special - just an ordinary RS232 terminal. Hook it up to the serial port of any modern PC (running any form of *nix, obviously) with a null modem cable, set the baud rate on the terminal(switches are marked on the back), and edit the /etc/inittab file on the PC to use the RS232 port as a terminal interface. The termcap entry for that is in the main database, you can get all the relevant control characters from that.

I'll see if I can turn up the manual though, seems like I had it at one point.

Nice terminal. I quite like it.

This is proof there is more style in the Unix command line than just prompt customization. :D

Thanks Ian, yes, the instruction manual would be handy, as we are still having a few problems with it, putting them in a new post at the top of the forum ) Sorry for late response, I was not being notified of responses to this thread (

Any chance of seeing a scan of that, would be interesting to see ) Sorry for late response but forum was not letting me know people were responding (

I do love the styling, it looks good in the living room (yes, I'm that geeky lol). Still a few problems, putting them in a new post )
