Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDS won't start

Hello there!

The LPT diagnostic device arrived. It's throwing a "05" which according to the Toshiba Service Manual it's a memory issue.
In order to solve it, I just need to... replace the motherboard...

I'm trying to procure one but it seems it's hard to find, at least not for a decent price.

I could end up buying another 430CDT and use the one I currently have as spare-kit type of thing.

I'll keep you posted!

In the end, I bought another 430CDT that according to the seller, boots in Windows 95 without any issues. We'll see

I would like to get an external floppy drive for this laptop. Do you know if the PA2669U will work? It seems to be the most available model.
It's not designed for the 430CDT but I believe it has the same connector.

Thanks!

I do not know if the PA2669U will work. I do not have one.

Besides the attachment case that I have pictured at [here], the only other model of case that I have for the 430CDT is the model PA2611U (the model number appearing on the case's underside).

I turned my Toshiba 430CDT on for the first time in 6 months and it won't post. I can f12 and see the screen works for updating bios, but after the initial 5 seconds of the hard drive seeking, it stops. I don't recall a Bios / CMOS battery error on it, so I'm not sure that's the issue. Does anyone know the bios intercept key to see if it retained the settings? Does anyone have a copy of the bios? I want to resurrect the past!

Main battery related? See the 'known problems' section of [here].

Be aware that the 430 sends POST codes to the parallel port. See the 'POST code monitor' section of [here].

I purchased two of these notebooks (440CDT & 460CDT) by 20$ each.
The fluid of backup battery seriously corroded the mainboard of them.
This seems to be a common problem of this series.
Essentially beyond repair, I had to give up.

Modem7, Thank for the reply. I decided to remove peripherals one at a time. Turns out the expansion RAM card went bad. I'm back to booting, but with 16 whole meg of ram.
