Hi all,
Looking for a little information on a Wang Terminal - It looks similar to pictures of a Wang 5506 I've seen in dredging around the internet, but I'm not completely sure, I couldn't find an obvious model number anywhere on the unit. There is a serial number KZ4561, but that didn't yield any useful information.

Here's the situation with it thus far - there is a faint beep on power up. Nothing on the screen, although with adjustment of the 2 knobs on the front, a green raster can be seen.
On what little information I did find on the 5506, the one link here:
http://paleoferrosaurus.com/pdf_archive/wang5506.pdf

This indicates that the 5506 lacks the logic to run its own display or character generator, and accepts composite video input via the BNC on the back. I tried connecting up a composite (NTSC) video source to the rear bnc, with zero effect.
There is a second connector on the back next to the BNC, I'm not sure of the name of the connector but it has screw threads rather than the two posts sticking out of the BNC jack.
To my surprise at some point when I was messing with the connections on the back, a screen of garbage text popped up - which indicates that this does actually have its own character generator. So perhaps not a 5506, but I really don't know.

Attached pictures of it here, and of the garbage text screen. Rear connectors (unlabeled) include a BNC, a bnc-like connector with screw threads, and a 25 pin d-sub female. Any ideas on what model this actually is, how to determine if it's working or not, etc are greatly appreciated.

By the way, this is most likely going to the consignment area at VCF West this year, so if you are interested it can be yours!

Ditto. Old (1970s) Wang 2200 VS/OIS stuff. Sync or bisync (2780 type). Not async. I suppose if you had a PC with a BSC adapter and software package you could use your terminal. Otherwise, it's a nightlight.
A bit more on bisync. (Brings up bad memories of trying to get a VAX 11/750 running 4.1BSD to speak HASP--never did get it to work; even brought it an "expert" from BSD).

"CPU: INTEL 8086 @ 5 MHz, RAM: 4KB, Οperating system: Wang Basic, Year: 1977"

Um, 1977 with an 8086? Color me skeptical.

Described in this brochure. Appears to be a dumb terminal with extra functionality (data processing and word processing) added in. Without the 2200 VS mainframe it's probably not very useful.
