WRP Web rendering proxy the gift of the internet to everyone that never happened

WRP has been talked about since last century as a way to reduce bandwidth and allow full website compatibility on any system no matter how old.

What we got instead of WRP were services like opera that require special software.

Has any general purpose WRP been setup that you just type in a web browser like archane and the WRP gives you the modern web with functionality like logins on the old browser?

WRP has been talked about since last century

WRP was implemented by Danger for TMobile Sidekick phones
It worked really well.
MSFT drove a nail through its heart when they bought Danger, and replaced it with Zune (squirt, squirt)

I don't see that anyone is going to invest the resources needed to keep up with the deliberate crippling of the Old Web
by the Big Boys.
