DEC units on ebay

Yes,

Capacitors that are leaking, rusty or bulging would most likely require replacing.

Otherwise, attempt to reform. If nothing else, replacements are expensive!

I think most of us have reformed the large capacitors in the power supplies of our DEC machines. The brief explanation of reforming is to apply the rated working voltage of the capacitor through a large resistance to limit the current to a few milliamps.

When I get back to a computer I can reference a post about reforming that’s in the DEC forum.
I think the 11/05 may have the same H740 power supply as the 8/m that's described in this post. Here's a post from about a year ago about reforming the four large electrolytic capacitors in the H740.

Also, improving the connections for +5V from the power supply might be helpful:

One of the more helpful resources I found regarding the reforming of electrolytics:

Thanks guys for the tip and the links. I will inspect the capacitors accordingly.
No more questions in this thread for now :)

Looks like there's a PDP 8/F available in North Carolina.

According to the sticker on the back, it shipped with a VT8E module set, but those are missing from the modules listed.
Does anyone know what a 100262 Omnibus module might be?

Last time I had looked no modules were listed. I almost contacted him to suggest he list those. Guess someone else did. 1 bid so far I see it has.

Hehe... I was wondering how long it'd take for that machine to get posted here. Considering the starting bid is $1500USD, it's going to be way out of my budget. Nice machine regardless, though.

Same seller has a really nice Model 33 Teletype and DECWriter II.

This seller just posted a bunch of PDP-11 parts. It's clear from their listings they have no idea what they have. There is a "PDP-11/73" which is really just an empty BA23 chassis. Not even sure if it's all there.

It's not really empty, just no DEC modules.

Maybe there's some value in these 3rd-party I/O boards? Anyone recognise what they are?

Actually I was referring to this one.

But that one is just as bad. It's just a BA-11S and 2 unknown boards.

5303 Dollar for a PDP8/f  I didn't see that coming...

You beat me to that comment. There is nothing at all special about that 8/F. In fact it didn't even have a console interface unless it is that non DEC board that was mentioned.

If I could sell my known to work 8/e with a console interface for that kind of money I could go on a nice vacation.

It seems that there was more than one person that -really- wanted it... definitely a lot of coin though!

Hard to say if it was a deep-pocketed collector or perhaps or an organization trying to keep their existing machine running. This isn't the first time we've seen PDP-8 stuff sell for huge bucks on eBay.
