Your XT-IDE controller, Does it work and boot to DOS 6x in your 5160 and does that have the FDISK and FORMAT programs on it ?I have boot floppy but only with command.com on it

And you now have a new working 'Sergey's FDC' ?
Would it be worth my while investing in a GQ-4x?
My new XT-FDC has arrived and works in my IBM XT.
My problem now is to get my .BIN file and XTIDECFG onto my IBM XT to flash my original FDC. I have a packet driver for an EtherLink II which is in the XT. I have some mTCP files on a 360 kb disk and will try to set up an FTP server on the XT and transfer the files that way.
I'll then get back to flashing my original XT-FDC and report back
How do I shrink the picture?Ah i see the pic in your reply, I do wish folk would trim pics down, It's unnecessary and costly for poor plebs like me.
You have an XT-IDE card. If you have a serial port on your IBM XT (or XT clone), and have certain other hardware, then consider the use of a serial drive - see [here].
Note that the .IMA file (my_720k.ima in the example) can be modified via WinImage software; delete files, drag-and-drop files into it.Reading that link.
Bought a Gotek and GreaseWeasel. Will set them up and report backHave you tried a Gotek FD emulator? LCD mod on that and it’s great alternative to old floppies. Couple that with a Greaseweasel to capture images from other floppy drives and you’ll have a great system.
I'm curious. Why ask this question? For example, if you configure the Multi-Floppy BIOS for two drives, you could just play safe and set the motherboard switches to two drives. If I'm booting from the XT-FDC what setting do I use on the XT motherboard?
Wasn't sure if motherboard switches mattered. Hadn't thought it through.I'm curious. Why ask this question? For example, if you configure the Multi-Floppy BIOS for two drives, you could just play safe and set the motherboard switches to two drives.
You have used "booting". Unable to boot from floppy? If that is the case, note that with the XT-IDE (or XT-CF) also fitted, to boot from A:, I expect that you will need to press the A key when you see the XTIDE Universal BIOS' hotkeybar appear.
