New Forums nits

Thanks @VileR, those look awesome, but I am not sure the VCFED board will want to change the logo up there, as that is their brand identity (I will ask though). In the mean time, I am thinking the last one, but with the current logo on the left (instead of just a terminal) and the top line says "Vintage Computer Federation" and the bottom line says "Forums" with the lower line being bigger than the upper line. Hopefully that makes sense.

Do either of these look like what you were thinking?
The idea is to minimize vertical spacing, so I constrained the height, like the previous attempts. Can't see much detail on the VCF logo at this size, but overall I think it could work.

BTW: the list of links with upcoming events (on the right side of the header) has margins at the top and bottom. I'd recommend removing those too in order to minimize the height.
If you set those margins to 0, it could look like this:

Can we please get a solid timeline on when the subforum navigation won't suck? The migration was nearly two weeks ago. Has the plugin for better handling blogs been procured yet?

Actually, this is on my to do list for this weekend. Should be more like the old forum when I am done.

I see the new layout style is applied and it looks good! The way the groups and blogs are posted at the bottom half are also good.

Only two minor nits I still have are when navigating to the forum from the vcfed.org homepage into either the forum home or the subforums it still directs to the old forum. The other is widescreen support like seen on the KLOV forums which removes the side padding.

You are probably still working on that but I can always ask the KLOV administration on what they are doing to remove the side padding.

Sorry I havent read all the threads so far. I have been pretty sick the past week. I am getting email notifications on thread updates but when I logon to the forum the bell icon no longer shows updates... Why is that?

Hope you're feeling better. The bell is working for me. I don't know what to suggest as why it's not working for you.

Thanks... A really bad flu but not Covid (not that that is any better I guess).
Not sure why its not working it was a week or two back...

Have you checked your notifications setting in your preferences?

It is fine for me also.

Not sure why it would have stopped if it was previously working though...

Dave

Bell works for me. Maybe you have it turned off somewhere? Get better quick!

I had set it when I first logged on to the new Forum. I never went back and changed it. I just Re-checked the settings, they are still what I set them at. I should be getting bell notifications but I am not.

It looks to be working well overall. I do have a couple things.
My mail box has three messages in it from around 2009-2010. I suspect I read those years ago.
When using the "New Post" it used the "today" and "yesterday" terms. Is there an option to always use the date rather than other terms like "Wednesday" and such. My work has been keeping me busy for differing lengths of time ( days ). I know which dates I read last but it is hard to figure three different ways of which day I didn't look at yet. I know it is trying to be clever but I prefer just the date and not the mixed method.
Thanks Dwight

have logged in through multiple browsers on multiple computers. I also am seeing old emails showing up as new. from more than a year ago

Maybe you're cursed and need an exorcism? Wish I could think of something else that might cause this. Multiple browsers and multiple computers kinds of limits it to the forum software.

That second one looks pretty great. What do you need to make that into a PNG with a transparent background? I am not sure I have a high res version of the circle logo, I just grabbed that off the old site.

I removed most of the padding on the site, it's set to take up 97% of the window, which I think looks pretty good. I tried 100%, but that just looked over crowded to me.

RE: VCFED homepage, I'll see if I can alert the right person to that. I don't have any edit ability on that site, just the forums.
