New Forums nits

That is a good idea. Do you know someone who could make that for us? I certainly do have the graphics design ability to do so.
I have the PhotoShop/CorelDraw skills of a squirrel (my annotated screenshot is a clear hint of that). But if the idea is greenlighted, I'm sure creative people will step to the challenge.

Yeah, your talents in this area far outstrip my own...

Yes, if someone out there wants to take a stab at a banner type logo to put at the top, then have at it. We'll absolutely consider all suggestions and submissions.

A couple of quick attempts. The post has a white background so I left some black margins, but they could be cropped out completely:

Wow, that looks like what I would have liked to have known how to do. But I don't. :)

And I have to say I prefer the bottom. Maybe put a "terminal" on the right side also but facing the opposite direction. This would fill up
about 1/2 of the top black bar and free up some valuable space.

Very nice. I like the one with the smaller height (i.e., the second one), for what we are trying to accomplish is to waste as little vertical screen space as possible.

Could you make it so that the letters are in the center, and the "laurels" just at its left and right, and not below them? And then add a terminal to the extreme right (but facing to the left), as @tradde has suggested?

Nice job!

I would go with 3 or 5 - depending upon what looks best on the page itself.

That's my 10 pence / cents / whatever.

Okay, a few more tries, Terminally Symmetric edition. 🙃

Great work!! KUDOS!

In my opinion, the one quoted above is the best looking one.

Could you make an additional version of it, just with a little less height (I guess that implies making the computer terminals a little smaller)... Just to see how it would look like and compare with the "regular" one quoted above.

Thank you a ton!

Yea, I'm partial to 3 and 5, whichever fits best.

I like the stacked letters.

None comes to mind right now, but then I haven't tried to access the forum on my old hardware. But this being a vintage computer forum, isn't it logical that it supports resolution encountered on vintage systems? Install Win XP on a system without the required display drivers and the default is 16-color 640x480 VGA.

I'm still a little disappointed it won't even try to load in SeaMonkey 1.1.x/Firefox 2 under Windows 9x, but with how much scripting this new forum has, I suppose I should consider myself lucky that it works at all under New Moon/Pale Moon. Some other sites actually do drop in to a dumbed down and often broken "mobile" mode even at 1024x768.

BTW, the site favicon eventually needs tweeking too - that large logo on a small bookmark menu icon just looks like a black circle with a bit of smeared green on it.

Thanks @VileR, those look awesome, but I am not sure the VCFED board will want to change the logo up there, as that is their brand identity (I will ask though). In the mean time, I am thinking the last one, but with the current logo on the left (instead of just a terminal) and the top line says "Vintage Computer Federation" and the bottom line says "Forums" with the lower line being bigger than the upper line. Hopefully that makes sense.
