Omg

Ouch. Doesn't look melted. Give it a disassembly and a bath and it might clean up OK. But wow, what happened to it? They tried to barbecue it? They don't say.

I've have equipment that had been exposed to smoke before and it gets all up inside everything. So it would certainly need cleaning inside and out. Never had to mess with anything that bad.

I bet it would be fine. Bit of a clean, new RIFA's just to be on the safe side.

Drives would probably benefit from a clean. Mine sat on a shelf for 30 years and looked almost as dirty, but its up and fully working. They seem fairly robust and it looks as if they dont use the TP drives, which might be a benefit.

With the prices some of these command, it's sometimes easier to pick one up for parts/repair, and just fix it yourself (got my Tandy 1100FD that way). But damn... That price is kinda steep for something with a chopped power cord, missing keys, and who knows what else.

As the lower drive is accessed, it looks like its mainly working, might just need the internal contrast adjusting like mine did.

I'd consider it --- if everything is in working condition .... this is a much sought after machine ....

I only recently learned the "D" stood for DESKMATE. I should really do more with it, but Im more interested in getting both my model 1's working and fixing the keyboard on my model III, The 4D has nothing wrong with it (so I have no reason to use it, if that makes sense)
