The first run of XT-IDE cards has been all sold out. However, I would like to see if there still is a demand for another run of cards.

Hi! I am working with the PCB manufacturer for small run of PCBs. The order should go through soon as soon as we work out some final details. These will be the XT-IDE boards just like the first batch but with the corrected silkscreen in front.

This is the trial run to see how this goes. My intent is more for the home brew hobbyists so it will be PCB only, no kits, no preassembled units consistent with the N8VEM project. Based on these results I may start carrying these PCBs as a regular N8VEM item.

If you are planning on making your own PCB manufacturing run you might want to wait a little while so this batch can clear out. It is small so hopefully that won't take very long.

Please contact me directly or post here if interested. There is no obligation until the PCBs show up. Please do not send any funds until the PCBs have arrived. I will let you know when that happens.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Hi! I just spoke with the PCB manufacturer and the order looks like it is going through. It is a bit complicated but it sure looks right.

This will be a small order of only 20 units so if you are planning on getting it on this order you should sign up soon. I will process PCBs in the order they arrive.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Hi! If you are interested in the second batch of XTIDE boards please send me an email with XTIDE in the subject and I will add you to the list.

mailto:lynchaj@yahoo.com?subject=XTIDE

One note of caution is that due to differing quantities ordered, N8VEM related expenses, and other factors the price on the PCB only units will be different than the original offering by Hargle, et al. The price is set at PCB cost plus a small margin. As this is a non-commercial amateur project there is no "profit" and any extra funds will be used to offset N8VEM related development expenses.

As I recall the PCB only option price for the XTIDE original run was $9 or so. I am estimating a price for this run of the PCB only to be $12 plus shipping depending on how all this settles out.

Shipping would probably be $2 in the US and $5 overseas per board like the usual N8VEM rate. Of course all this may need to be adjusted based on conditions.

The good news is the order went through with the manufacturer so we are moving.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Hi! Just a quick update... about half of the first lot of XTIDE PCB only boards are "claimed". The PCB manufacturer sent me a message and they are expecting delivery in early April 2010. I will send out confirmation emails to anyone on the waiting list in the order they arrive in prior to sending out any PCBs. Please do not send any money or funds until the PCBs have arrived and everything is checked out. If more people sign up than there are PCBs, I will make another order and take care of them in the order they arrived.

Thanks and have a nice day!

PCB Revision?

PCB Revision?

I was wondering if this latest run of PCB's includes a provision for a 5-pin power header, or if one is planned in future versions.

It would make powering an IDE drive or IDE-CF adapter that much easier...

Hi! These PCBs will be identical to the current ones except with an updated front silkscreen. There are no hardware changes.

Thanks and have a nice day!

I'm available for assembly.
For anyone who wants to get a card, but isn't so great with the iron, I have built dozens of these cards with great success.

PM me and we'll work out the details.

I'm new to the forum and these sound awesome! How much would a fully populated board cost? (if available).

I'm no good with a soldering iron... I've tried many times and all I have to show for my troubles are scars from burning myself.

Hi! The bare PCB will be $12 or so plus shipping depending on where you live. Assembly and testing would be up to you unless you can work out an arrangement with Hargle or others.

Thanks and have a nice day!

I'd sure be interested in an XT-IDE card, something to fall back on should my MFM drive go dead. If you'd add a power header for the second run I'd sure be buying one.

Hi! These PCBs will be the same as the original run. I will not be making changes to them other than the updated silkscreen. They are in transit at the moment so I am expecting their arrival this weekend or so. If you would like the power header, add it to the wiki as an idea for the next revision of the PCB if and when that happens.

Thanks and have a nice day!

I am also interested in obtaining one of these boards as well.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi! My plan is to make an order for manufactured PCBs this weekend along with the N8VEM SCG (sprite color graphics & sound) board. I am going to get twice as many XT-IDE PCBs this time so hopefully they'll last longer. The last few days have been spent on the S-100 SMB project fixing some issues with the prototype boards.

I'll post with an update in the next few days. Thanks and have a nice day!

NOOOO!! they're sold out? i just logged on here hoping to be able to buy one to replace my prototype. it doesn't run the BIOS anymore, and when i try to flash the eeprom it errors when trying to verify the data was written. anyway, i will definitely order one ASAP!

maybe i have a problem with my SW1 settings. seeing as how mine is the original prototype (marked board #10) i have two DIP switch sets. can somebody remind me which is SW1?? are the switch settings the same on that old one as they are on the final board?? there might be a conflict with another board in the machine or something.

hargle... You sent me a wrong item. I've sent you a pm and email. Please check it. Thankyou.

Hi! I ordered another batch of XT-IDE PCBs. I will post when they are available.

Thanks and have a nice day!
