seeing chris1's s/3x thread i figured i would post my own holy grail thread as well- don't bother telling me i'll have to get lucky, i already know :)

looking for a (ideally working) lispm of some sort, ideally something capable of running interlisp but if it isn't scrap i'll take it. coprocessor cards like the macivory are also fine. don't have much to offer in trade besides less interesting items, a complete MCA P/390 system in server500 chassis and ISA osprey (PDP11 simulator) card but i make decent money so we can talk cash if you want it.

Do you have access to a time machine? I was offered a Lisp machine for $50 at one of the MIT Flea Markets circa-2008. It was such a beastly and heavy device I had to pass. Oh had I known.

believe me, i regularly wish i could go back in time and start myself picking up interesting gear while it was cheap instead of just reading about it...

It's not the same of course, but, interlisp.org does have a fully working implementation on MacOS, Linux and Windows I believe.

I have my own "should have" story: I was offered, free for cost of getting it to me, a bunch of complete Symbolics 3600 series machines, from the famed CYC people. It would have been about $1500 to get them to Denver, where I lived at the time, and I declined. "Should have" but... I didn't :(

You come across 3600 Symbolics hardware, I'd be willing to chip in for a group deal. ;)

Maybe you can try to get OpenGenera running on your DS20

It's been on my to-do list for quite a while to give that a try. I've never gotten around to that yet.

I have a vague recollection that a few years ago the guy that runs floodgap.com ended up spending thousands of dollars actually getting a Macintosh-hosted LISP card (MacIvory?) running. (Did a quick Google to try to find the tale of woe, but of course came up empty.) I wish you better luck on your quest.

Of the three platforms, Interlisp-D Medley is the only one which has had its software released and is actually being worked on.
The Explorer vanished into the bowels of HP when it was sold to them by TI.
Symbolics... well we all know the wackiness around that.

medley is quite nice from a common lisper's perspective, i've found that i can be reasonably productive and the environment feels a bit more thought out and complete than the versions of genera i've had available to me. rooms and notecards are also an indispensable part of workflow once you get them set up the way you want them :)

Love to hear more about what you've done in that environment (maybe in a new thread!) It is old enough that it classifies for VCF, even if LISP itself is timeless...

hah, i haven't done anything impressive, mostly just tinkering on some small personal projects to better familiarize myself with an older common lisp :) i could write a little guide about setting up rooms and notecards though, since i find those super useful

I have a big interest in "outliner software" and hypertext-related apps like that. Would really appreciate any tips you can give on Notecards.
