ok gang, I've crunched the numbers, and the cards come in at a total cost of $18.93 each. That's for a complete card, including the bracket. I'm going to round that up to an even $20.00, just to make things easier, and I'm sure that paypal will steal a few cents on the transaction too, not to mention the hours it will take me kitting everything up. Edit: Yep, Paypal is taking $1.03 for their "work" in this, so I am profiting exactly $0.04 per card. Wooo! retirement is just around the corner for me.
So here are the costs:
$20 for a card, in build it yourself, kit form.
$5 for shipping in the USA. In a flat rate, priority mail box.
I think I can put up to 4 kits into a single box, I don't think anyone ordered more than 4 at a time, so this should work well.
$15 for card assembly and testing. they take at least an hour each to assemble, not to mention solder costs and testing verification. I think that's reasonable.
I am going to be working through the spreadsheet and sending paypal invoices out, first customers will be USA residents who wanted kits, since I can start shipping those as early as tomorrow.
Assembled cards will trickle out as I get time to make them. I will have to handle overseas orders almost on a case by case basis to make sure shipping isn't too screwy price wise. I'll handle all the keyboard adapters, extra atmel parts and other odds and ends as they come up.
------------
I have contacted a half dozen people with paypal requests for kits; they are ready to ship. I have cleared email addresses of the people I have so far contacted out of the google spreadsheet to protect the innocent from spambots. I'm using that to know who I've contacted so far...
