    Summagraphics BitPad compatibility?

I've got a system with a BitPad one on it and I'd like to build another system. I don't see any Summagraphics tablets that old, but was wondering if perhaps some of the later ones were software compatible, and if so, which ones? How about it, any Summagraphics experts here? For what it's worth...

Looking for MSCP boot ROMS for 11/23+

I'd like to be able to MSCP boot with my 11/23+, so I'm looking for images (or ROMS, ROMS would be lovely) (KDF11-BF) 23-183E4-00 23-184E4-00 OR (KDF11-BG) 23-380E4-00 23-381E4-00 My 11/73 board seems to be out of commission with a...

    RD53 fun and games!

... or something. So, I have a RD53 from an old system I really want the bits off of. Of course the heads were stuck. Open up the drive and un-stick, easily done. Then I thought, what if I want all the nice coffee grinder noises of using a real drive. If the drive is fine apart from bad...

Dilog DQ-614, dual-height qbus MFM controller that is supposed to emulate RL0x and RX02. Anybody tried one?

Has anyone here had any experience with this controller? I have a couple of these, one bare and another came with the drive. I found the manual and a diagram on bitsavers (thanks Erik and Al!) and I have it configured an a manner that makes sense. I can get to the Dilog prompt "*" but asking...

    making a bootable RL02 pack under RT-11

When I've booted the system from a MSCP device, I'm not sure how to place a boot onto DL0: I did ini DL0: and that went fine. then I did: copy/sysy du0:*.sys dl0: copy/boot dl0:rt11fb.sys dl0: boot dl0: I get ?boot-u-i/o error I'm sure I've done this before, but it's been a lot of years.

VT1xx video board -transistor cross reference wanted

I'm looking at needing to replace the TO3 transistor on the video board of a 131 I'm cleaning up. Original part is a Motorola MJ3029 or late it looks like they went to a Matsushita 2SC901A. What are people experienced with using with satisfactory results? The crosses I found were BU426A, BU526...

    M8204 KMC11-A

Hex module described as Microprocessor, DMC-11 code, 1K ram program space. RAM is Intel D2115AL x ~24, PROMs are 4X N82S112N, ALU is 2X 74S181N3, it's an odd beast. I wonder if there is anything useful this thing could do?

RT-11 question: using multiple RAxx drives.

It's odd, but I've just never had to do it. I've used a single RAxx chopped up into multiple partitions and I've used that in conjunction with RL,RX,... drives, but I've never tried hooking up a second RAxx. Physically it's simple, but trying to get a directory or write a filesystem has me...

    What QBUS machines support netboot?

I'm thinking the 11/53+ would be a likely candidate. How about the uVAX-II, III, or 4? 11/73+ perhaps? I guess the other question is what operating systems will that work for? Even if your CPU will netboot, that won't do you a lot of good if you are trying to run BSD 2.9! While I'm asking...

    VAX binary compatibility question.

Let's say I have a bootable RA81 and it was used with a VAX-11/750. The uVAX-II was supposedly a miniaturized 750, so can I boot off the same disk?

    Dec ephemera

All corporations of any size start making or having made for them little chotskies. I thought it would be fun to share some of the ones dec made over the years, so to kick things off I give you... The VT100 tie, or should I say dectie? I'm told by the fellow I got it from that dec had made...

Computer responses to foreign OS on RAxx (or other) drives

I have a lot of media that could have interesting bits on it, but those bits might be hard for the current host computer to parse. For instance, in the current situation I have some RA73s that could have been used with a VAX, PDP-11, (Alpha?), it gets worse with RL02 packs where it could be a...

    Recycled telemetry equipment RIP.

A picture of a friend's project from about 50 years ago. It was apparently surplus satellite telemetry recording equipment, I forget if the drives were 5 or 7 track, but they weren't 9. All analog gear and the tape transports would do a wide range of speeds. At the high end he found he could...

VT100 (et al) video board troubleshooting.

Having fixed some VT100 logic boards and keyboards, it seemed a good time to have a look at some bad video boards. These were tested and verified bad in a known-good terminal (worked before and after the tests). One has no filament power. Two have filament power but no video. My HV probe is in...

    California PDP-8/a module M8319 4-line SLU

Untested because I no longer have an a, but came from PPS and they were good at testing their stuff. $100 plus actual shipping if I have to find a box, print a label, etc. $75 if you pick it up in Santa Cruz or meet me at my convenience over the hill.

    LK07 (VT100, etc.) keyboard oddity.

So, I have many of the LK07s we all know and hate/love. but in sorting and trying to make complete keyboards from damaged ones (keyboard bingo), I happened across this specimen with different plunger/contact assemblies. Does anybody know if these were really late units, or what the deal is...

PRO350, what's it good for, really?

OK, so it's a desktop PDP-11/23, and that's cool, but if you have, say, a stack of QBUS and UNIBUS machines, what does the PRO do that's really cool and distinct from other 11s? I imagine it would be either something in the user interface (I'm told there was a GUI option?) or else some "killer...

    California dec PDP-8/a backplane assembly

P/N 701-14245-00 I bought this lump years ago to use it to kludge a RL-8A onto my -8/E, but never got around to it and now the E is long gone, so it's time to offer this up to someone building, expanding, or testing an omnibus-8. It does include the back (power supply) side as well, which one...

    IC recovery

Given access to a hot-air rework oven, is that a decent way to salvage vintage through-hole ICs off scrap boards? What are folks doing in terms of IC salvage?

6511 aka R65/11 anybody use one for anything?

Apparently the core is a 6502 with some added 4-bit instructions, the bus is very 6800-like, and the physical implementation and feature-set is very much like a Z-8. They has a built-in UART, 192 bytes of RAM, and came ROMless, masked, or piggyback "suffix EB". The early chips were 40-pin DIP...
